Simone's Lab
Simone’s lab is a meeting place, an event space, and an art gallery. It’s a bar within a bar. Originally a mechanic’s shop, the space has been fully remodeled by the design team at AlterEgo Form. Using a variety of found objects (old chemistry desks and lab equipment, church pews, machine parts, and more) they transformed the room into a 1,000-square-foot work of art.
In that vein, The Lab regularly opens exhibitions along with the galleries in the Pilsen 2nd Fridays art walk. If you are interested in exhibiting or in doing a Mural for our rotating mural wall, please contact manager Robert Brown with your resume, curriculum vitae, 5 jpegs of your work, and the words “Lab Exhibition” in the subject heading of your email. If you wish to guest curate a show please include a paragraph about your proposed show, the exhibitors, your background as pertaining to the show, curating experience, and put the words “Lab Guest Curator” in the subject heading.
In addition to art exhibitions, The Lab will host a number of events including monthly prose readings from local and nationally recognized authors. We will have professors and other learned individuals giving talks on a variety of topics including bicycle maintenance, horticulture and animal training, to name but a few. Dates, subject matter, and time of these talks will be posted in our events section at www.simonesbar.com.
If you wish to speak on a particular subject, please contact manager Robert Brown with a short paragraph describing your intended topic, another short paragraph with your background as related to the topic, and the words “Lab Speeches” in the subject heading of your email. We are open to any subject within the 1st amendment realm.
The Lab will also be available for private events. The room offers a 75-seat capacity (120 standing) with a fully integrated sound system with DJ and PA capabilities. We also have a variety of food and beverage packages. For more information on booking The Lab, please contact manager Robert Brown.
