Workers begin the process of opening up the back wall and supporting the opening with a steel I-beam.
This is the completed installation of the I-beam, with a temporary wall to keep out the cold while construction continues.
A new I-beam down the center of the first floor's ceiling solidly supports the second floor structure.
Updated plumbing services both the second-floor apartments and the bar area.
Looking toward the front of the building on the west side of the first floor reveals our floor and framing work in progress.
The garage was of use for storage while construction in the front building moved forward. Eventually, the garage turned into the Simone's kitchen and a rear bar area for overflow crowds and private events.
Looking toward the rear of the main building shows the floor sub-structure nearly completed, a good deal of framing, and our new steel I-beams in place.
